A 13-year-old girl, simply identified as Ifeoluwa, has reportedly died in a building collapse in Igede, Ekiti State.
This was announced in a statement posted on the official X handle of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Wednesday.
The statement read, “A two-story building in Igede town collapsed on Tuesday, October 31.
“The house that was occupied by the family of Mr. Lanre Olagunju was noticed to be a mud house, which was later cemented. As of the time of the incident, Mr. Olagunju and his family were in the house.
“A 13-year-old girl named Ifeoluwa died as a result of the incident, while Mr. Lanre, his wife, and two other children are currently at the General Adebayo Hospital, Iyin-Ekiti, receiving treatment.
“The body of the late Miss Ifeoluwa had been deposited at the mortuary.”
Furthermore, the statement disclosed that the house and four adjourning buildings are noted to be dilapidated and would have to be demolished to avert future collapse.
