A Socio Political Group, Gbonyin Development Agenda, GAD has berated the letter written to the National Working Committee of the People’s Democratic Party by a former House of Representatives member, Chief Akinyede Awodimula where he claimed to be the major financier of PDP in the council area.
The firmer lawmaker had in the letter protested that he was not carried along in the decision regarding the outstanding ward and local government congress in Gbonyin having been the major financier of the party.
In a statement by the leader of the group, Hon. Stephen Dagilogba said the former House of representatives member was economical with the truth describing his action as self aggrandizement.
Mr Dagilogba urged the National leaders of the party to jettison the letter of Chief Awodimula, saying he was seeking for unmerited relevance and recognition.
According to him, Chief Awodimula is no where to be found when the struggle to unite members and reposition the party ahead of forthcoming governorship election was championed by the likes of Rt Hon. Tunji Odeyemi, Hon. Bade Adara and Hon Bunmi Adeyanju known as Ayanfe Ekiti.
His words “where were you when Hon. Tunji Odeyemi was coordinating and spending his personal resources to maintain the structure of the party in Gbonyin Local Government?
Are you telling us that you contributed more than Hon Bunmi Adeyanju from Agbado Ekiti who single handedly secured party Secretariat and furnished it for members of PDP in the council area?
“Where were you when Ayanfe Gbonyin was given money and other items to members of the party in Gbonyin and Ekit State in general to ensure that they got sense of belonging and not easily dragged to other parties?
Are you not aware that Hon Adeyanju facilitated the Payment of fifteen months rent and renovation of PDP secretariat in ijan Ekiti, upset debt of eighteen months rent owed by Iluomoba secretariat?
Hon Adeyanju also contributed to establishment of Aisegba PDP ward two party Secretariat as well ensure the ongoing renovation and painting of PDP local government party Secretariat in Ode Ekiti.
He also secured party secretariat for members of the party in Agbado ward.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, Ayanfe Ekiti ensured that palliatives were distributed to party members to cushion the effect of the virus on them
Hon. Dagilogba noted that, if any decision would be taken on the issue of ward Congress in Gbonyin local government, Hon. Odeyemi and Hon. Adeyanju should be the major stakeholders to be carried along.
If Hon. Adeyanju can deemed it fit to install solar to some streets in Agbado Ekiti without holding any political office, he should be commended and given full recognition while taking decision on Gbonyin ward Congress executive members.
The leader of the group also explained that when Chief Awodimula was in the house of representatives, his impact was not felt let alone now that he is no more holding any political office.
Mr Dagilogba therefore called on the leadership of PDP to investigate the above and take decision that would give the party edge in the council during the next governorship election.
