Eight Kwara TESCOM Job Applicants Disqualified After Failing Drug Tests”

At least eight out of the 1,800 shortlisted candidates for the Kwara Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) positions have been disqualified after testing positive for illegal drugs. The candidates, who underwent a drug test conducted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), tested positive for substances such as benzodiazepine, tramadol, cotinine, marijuana, and amphetamine—drugs deemed harmful to human health.

The disqualified applicants will be replaced by the next highest-performing candidates from their respective local government areas. This action is in line with the state government’s zero-tolerance policy for drug abuse, aiming to ensure that only qualified and healthy individuals are selected for teaching roles.

TESCOM Chairman, Bello Taoheed Abubakar, emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards in recruitment to protect the welfare of children and to uphold the quality of education in Kwara. Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who fully supports the initiative, has reinforced his commitment to a merit-based recruitment process that ensures fair and equal opportunities for all candidates.
