Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building infrastructure and creating a business-friendly environment, declaring that more industries have moved into Ogun in the past six years than under any previous government.

Speaking after receiving the Distinguished Visionary Leadership Award from the Foreign Investment Network (FIN) at his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the governor highlighted key achievements that have positioned Ogun as an investment destination of choice.

Abiodun noted that Ogun is among the six states selected for the establishment of Special Agro Processing Zones, a project realized in partnership with the Federal Government, the African Development Bank, Afreximbank, and the Islamic Development Bank. He emphasized that collaborations with private sector players have been crucial to the prompt commencement of the zone.

Outlining reforms made to boost the ease of doing business, Governor Abiodun cited the creation of a Business Environment Council working alongside the State Investment and Facilitation Agency, and the full computerization of tax payments to eliminate multiple taxation practices.

Highlighting infrastructure development, he said:

“This administration has constructed over 1,200 kilometers of roads in six years. We have built the best-equipped airport in Nigeria, centrally located for easy access. We are also extending the Agbado rail line deeper into Ogun State.”

The governor added that Ogun’s strategic location, abundant natural resources, and large population make it well-positioned to serve Nigeria’s largest markets. He also revealed ongoing efforts to deliver the cheapest electricity supply to power industries and households in the state.

Calling on both local and foreign investors, Abiodun urged them to seize the numerous opportunities in agriculture, manufacturing, power generation, and more. He also invited FIN to partner with the state government in promoting Ogun’s economic potential globally, especially at the upcoming State Economic Summit.

Presenting the award, FIN Chairperson Dr. Olayinka Fayomi praised Abiodun’s leadership, noting remarkable economic progress under his watch.

“Investors are taking note of the tremendous development in Ogun, particularly in sectors like health, education, agriculture, and infrastructure,” she said.

She revealed that Ogun’s success stories will be showcased at an international business summit in Oman, further projecting the state’s opportunities to a global audience.

In his closing remarks, Governor Abiodun expressed gratitude for the recognition and reiterated his administration’s dedication to advancing Ogun State’s economic and social prosperity.
