NCDMB Sets the Standard with First-Ever Nigerian Content Awards
The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), in collaboration with Sweetcrude Limited, has released detailed selection criteria for the first-ever Champions of Nigerian Content Awards, an initiative set to celebrate outstanding commitment to local content advancement in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
The awards ceremony will be held on May 21, 2025, at the NCDMB Conference Hall in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, alongside the Nigerian Oil and Gas Opportunity Fair (NOGOF)—further underscoring the country’s drive for economic transformation through indigenous participation.

The awards will honor individuals and organizations whose contributions in 2024 significantly boosted local capacity, innovation, and sustainable development. The categories include:

According to the NCDMB, nominees will be evaluated using objective, measurable metrics to ensure transparency and credibility. For operators, key criteria include:

Crude oil and gas production output

Compliance with Nigerian Content Plans (NCPs) and Nigerian Content Compliance Certificates (NCCCs)

Timely and accurate reporting under the NOGICD Act, including submission of Nigerian Content Performance Reports and Employment & Training Plans
Other award categories, including those for financial institutions, media organizations, and individuals, will follow similar performance-based benchmarks.
Awards such as Icon of the Year, Innovator of the Year, and Women in Leadership will be judged on quantifiable impact, not just participation.
Oversight by Industry Titans
To safeguard the credibility and prestige of the awards, an Advisory Committee comprising respected energy sector figures will oversee nominations and final selections. Committee members include:
