Rare Tornado Tears Through Southern France, Injures 39 and Leaves Village in Ruins

A rare and powerful tornado has ripped through the southern French village of Pomas, leaving a trail of destruction and injuring at least 39 people.

According to the AFP News Agency, the tornado struck the village on Tuesday, tearing roofs from buildings, bringing down walls, uprooting trees and damaging properties across the community.

At least 17 people were reportedly taken to hospital, with two said to have sustained serious injuries.

The violent storm left residents shocked as homes and other structures were severely damaged, while debris was scattered across streets.

Pomas Mayor described the aftermath as resembling a “wartime” scene, highlighting the scale of destruction caused by the rare weather event.

Emergency responders were deployed to the affected area as authorities assessed the damage and assisted residents affected by the tornado.

The incident has renewed attention on the growing threat posed by extreme weather events, with residents left to count the cost of the powerful storm.
