ZITDA Deploys Internet Infrastructure at Gusau Airport Ahead of October 1 Operations

The Zamfara Information Technology Development Agency (ZITDA) has commenced the deployment of reliable, high-speed internet connectivity at the Gusau International Airport ahead of the commencement of commercial flight operations on October 1.

The ZITDA technical team recently visited the airport to assess the facility and identify key areas requiring immediate digital infrastructure deployment.

The connectivity will cover critical sections of the airport, including the domestic and international departure and arrival terminals, protocol and VIP lounges, control tower, fire station and other operational facilities.

Passengers will also have access to free internet connectivity from the moment they arrive at the airport, as part of efforts to provide a modern and digitally enabled travel experience.

ZITDA said its mandate extends beyond simply providing internet access, describing the initiative as part of the broader effort to establish the digital infrastructure required for modern governance, seamless public services and a more connected Zamfara State.

The airport deployment forms part of the Zamfara State Government’s wider digital infrastructure expansion programme, driven by Governor Dauda Lawal’s vision of building a more digitally enabled and efficient state.

According to the agency, the first phase of the digital expansion programme has already been completed across strategic government and public-service locations, including the Government House, J.B. Yakubu Secretariat Complex, State House of Assembly Complex, State High Court Complex, Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital, School of Nursing Sciences and the Zamfara Internal Revenue Service.

ZITDA said the deployment at Gusau International Airport underscores the state’s commitment to ensuring that its digital infrastructure keeps pace with major developments in the state.

As Zamfara prepares to welcome commercial flights to Gusau International Airport, the agency said it is equally putting in place the technological infrastructure needed to support efficient airport operations, improve passenger experience and connect the facility to the state’s expanding digital ecosystem.
