The House of Representatives has given MTN Nigeria, Airtel Nigeria, Globacom, Mafab Communications and other telecommunications operators seven days to explain the persistent poor quality of network services across the country.

The directive comes amid growing complaints from subscribers over dropped calls, slow internet connections, failed call attempts and other network-related challenges affecting communication and business activities.

The lawmakers are seeking explanations from the affected operators over the continued deterioration of telecommunications services despite the growing dependence of Nigerians on mobile networks for business transactions, education, banking and other essential activities.

The development puts telecom operators under renewed pressure to address service deficiencies and improve the quality of services delivered to millions of subscribers nationwide.

Further details on the lawmakers’ demands and the operators’ responses are awaited.
