Governor Sanwoolu Applauds Funke Opeke As MDXi Data Centre Launches
The Executive Governor of Lagos, Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu has hailed the impact MainOne is making in the technological space. The Governor made this disclosure at the launch of the MDXi Data Centre in Lagos.
The Governor said ”I was at the launch of the new MDXi Data Centre today. MDXi is an offshoot of MainOne, which is one of the most successful companies to ever emerge out of Nigeria”.
Governor Sanwoolu went on to applaud the efforts of Ms Funke Opeke who is the brain behind MainOne and the newly launched MDXi Data Centre ”I am indeed proud of Ms Funke Opeke, and what she has achieved in and with MainOne over the last 12 years. Among other distinctions, the company landed Nigeria’s first-ever private submarine cable, here in Lagos, in 2010. Entrepreneurs like Ms Opeke are solid proof of what Nigeria and Nigerians can achieve when we set our minds to it and pursue business dreams that are ambitious and world-changing”.
He also went on to say ”This launch has also again put Lagos on a global market map. Our state has become the leading destination for technology companies on the African continent. In addition to being the largest sub-national economy in Africa, we are home to Paystack, Flutterwave, Interswitch, and many other globally recognized Startups. We are also a leading global city in e-commerce and retail technology according to the Global Startup Ecosystem Index”.
Lastly, Sanwoolu said his administration has created an enabling environment for projects like this ”Lagos is the commercial nerve centre of the country, and we will continue to create an enabling environment for businesses to flourish. We are ensuring that our policies are designed to support investment and create unending opportunities for entrepreneurs and investors”.
