Concerned citizens of Aboru, Baruwa, Ijagemo and environs in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State have called on the authorities and well-meaning Nigerians to take note of how certain die-hard political jobbers are persecuting and making life difficult for renowned grassroots mobilizer in the area, Mr. Olatunji Abiodun Oladapo.
The persecution, according to reports is on account of the roles he played in the 2023 general elections, enlightening people at the grassroots, especially the less-privileged, not to sell their votes, but rather vote for people who have pedigree and track record of performance as individuals in the society, ever before they ventured into politics.
A press statement jointly signed by Mr. Moshood Seriki Alausa, an elder in the community and Mr. Makinde Odewale JP, a resident, reads in part “In light of recent developments, we, as a collective voice of concerned citizens of Aboru, Baruwa, Ijagemo and environs, Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State, are issuing a demand for the immediate stoppage of the persecution faced by renowned grassroots mobilizer in our community, Mr. Olatunji Abiodun Oladapo; in the hands of disgruntled elements who blame him for their electoral misfortune”.
Speaking further, Odewale who is the spokesperson of the group added that, “It has come to our attention that the gentleman who has dedicated his life to championing the well-being of his people without let or hinderance and for no political or any pecuniary gain whatsoever; is being targeted, harassed, and unjustly persecuted simply for exercising his rights to advancing the cause of his community”.
Continuing, he said “We call upon all relevant authorities to ensure the safety of life and properties of Mr. Olatunji Abiodun Oladapo from the disgruntled elements who have exposed him to all forms of harassment, intimidation, and persecution. As concerned citizens, we stand in solidarity with grassroots mobilizer and reaffirm our commitment to upholding the values of democracy, justice, and freedom”, he concluded.
