The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced plans to unveil its National Campaign Council and present its financial statement at its third National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for Monday, October 26, 2026.

The Press Nigeria reports that the party disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director.

According to the statement, the meeting will hold at JD Event Centre, Kashim Ibrahim Way, opposite A-Class Park, Maitama, Abuja, at 10am.

A major highlight of the meeting will be the presentation of the party’s statement of account by its National Treasurer, a move the NDC said reflects its commitment to transparency and accountability.

The party also challenged other political parties, particularly the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), to adopt similar standards in managing their finances.

“This is in deference to our avowed commitment to the principles of transparency and accountability. In this regard, we challenge other political parties, especially the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), to emulate this level of openness and transparency in the management of their finances,” Director said.

“For the NDC, it is no longer politics as usual,” he added.

The party’s spokesperson explained that its finances could have been stronger but for the economic hardship facing Nigerians, which he said prevented many of its candidates from paying for Expression of Interest forms.

According to him, about 80 per cent of the party’s candidates could not afford the forms, forcing the NDC to provide them free of charge.

He attributed the situation to poverty, hunger and deprivation in the country, which he blamed on the APC-led government and its economic policies.

Director further disclosed that the NEC meeting would provide an opportunity for the party to unveil its National Campaign Council (NCC), covering the presidential, National Assembly, governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections.

The party will also present Certificates of Return to its candidates for their respective offices.

Describing the NDC as prepared for the political contest ahead, Director said the party was determined to offer Nigerians what he called altruistic leadership.

“The NDC is turbo-charged and ready to give Nigerians the altruistic leadership the nation deserves,” he said.

He concluded with the party’s rallying message: “A New Nigeria is Possible. We can do it!”
