The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 15 suspects, including 14 Chinese nationals and one Nigerian, over alleged illegal lithium processing at four plants in the Ogere area of Ogun State.

The suspects were arrested on Friday, October 23, 2026, by operatives of the EFCC’s Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 following credible intelligence and surveillance.

During the operation, the anti-graft agency recovered several items allegedly linked to the activities under investigation, including bags of lithium rocks, 18 mobile devices, four laptop computers, two decoders, a television remote control and a trailer truck.

The commission said investigations were ongoing and that the suspects would be charged to court upon their conclusion.

The arrests underscore the authorities’ efforts to tackle alleged illegal mineral processing and related economic and financial crimes in the country.

However, the allegations remain subject to investigation and judicial determination.
