Osun Governor says coalition pact is limited to presidential election, vows to campaign for Accord candidates.

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has dismissed suggestions of a political deal with the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the sharing of legislative and local government seats, insisting that the coalition arrangement is strictly limited to the presidential election.

Adeleke said political partners had agreed to work together to secure the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, but stressed that the agreement did not extend to other elective positions.

“As I said while inaugurating the Presidential Campaign Council, the coalition is targeted at the presidential election. Partners agreed to join hands to ensure our dear president is re-elected. All other legislative positions are open for competition,” the governor stated.

He further declared his commitment to supporting candidates of the Accord Party for legislative elections, including the Senate, House of Representatives and Osun State House of Assembly.

“I will work and campaign for Accord candidates for Senate, House of Representatives and the State House of Assembly,” Adeleke added.

The governor’s position draws a clear distinction between the coalition’s presidential objective and contests for other elective offices, signalling that legislative positions will not be allocated through a power-sharing arrangement with the APC under the terms he outlined.

His declaration also underscores his commitment to Accord candidates in legislative races, even as political alignments are being shaped ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Adeleke’s statement leaves the contests for legislative seats open to competition, rather than predetermined through negotiations between coalition partners.
