Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has renamed the International Centre for Culture and Events, popularly known as The Dome, in Akure, after former Governor Olusegun Mimiko.

The facility will henceforth be known as the **Dr. Olusegun Mimiko International Centre for Culture and Events** in recognition of the former governor, who served the state between 2009 and 2017 and built the centre during his administration.

Aiyedatiwa announced the renaming on Saturday during a birthday celebration organised in honour of Mimiko in Abuja.

The decision places the former governor’s name on one of the major event facilities in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

Mimiko governed Ondo State from 2009 to 2017, completing two consecutive terms before leaving office in February 2017.

The renaming marks a recognition of his contribution to the state’s infrastructure during his tenure, particularly the establishment of the cultural and events centre.

The facility is expected to continue serving as a venue for cultural activities, conferences, social gatherings and other major events in Ondo State under its new name.
