A building has collapsed in Wuse Zone 4, Abuja, barely hours after officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) Development Control sealed the property and ordered occupants to vacate the premises.

The building reportedly collapsed about an hour ago, triggering an emergency rescue operation at the scene.

Men of the FCT Fire Service are currently at the location, working to search the debris and determine whether anyone is trapped inside.

Three ambulances have also been stationed at the scene as emergency responders intensify efforts.

The circumstances surrounding the collapse remain unclear, including whether anyone was inside the building when it came down.

The incident is expected to raise fresh questions over the condition of the structure and the circumstances that prompted the FCTA Development Control Department to seal it earlier on Monday.

The Press Nigeria gathered that officials had visited the building earlier in the day, sealed it and directed occupants to leave.

More details are expected as rescue operations continue.
