Oloyede, who was convicted in the United States of America over fraud-related offences, is challenging the move to fill the vacant throne following his dethronement.

The former monarch is asking the court to stop Governor Adeleke and the Osun State Government from taking further steps towards appointing another traditional ruler for Ipetumodu pending the determination of the suit.

His legal action comes amid the controversy surrounding his removal from the throne and the efforts to resolve the leadership question in the ancient community.

The suit has further raised questions over the process of succession to the Apetumodu stool, with the court expected to determine the issues raised by the former monarch and the response of the state government.

However, until the court rules on the matter, the request to restrain the governor remains an application before the court and not an established judicial order.
