The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, convene a World Press Conference and National Stakeholders’ Meeting in Abuja as Nigeria enters the final 100-day countdown to the 2027 General Election.

The meeting, scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre (BAT-ICC), will provide an opportunity for the Commission to brief Nigerians and key stakeholders on its level of preparedness for the elections.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, is expected to address the gathering alongside other key stakeholders in the electoral process.

Among the issues expected to feature prominently are updates on the voters’ register, candidate nominations, election logistics and measures being put in place to safeguard the integrity and credibility of the electoral process.

The Commission said the national stakeholders’ meeting is part of its commitment to transparency, proactive communication and sustained engagement with critical actors ahead of the 2027 elections.

Participants are expected to include political party leaders, security agencies operating under the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES), members of the diplomatic corps, development partners, civil society organisations, election observer groups, disability rights advocates, religious and traditional leaders, youth organisations and media executives.

The event is strictly by invitation, with accredited media representatives and invited guests required to present their invitation cards or accreditation badges at designated security checkpoints.

For Nigerians unable to attend physically, the event will be broadcast live on major national television networks and streamed through INEC’s official social media platforms.

The meeting comes as preparations for the 2027 General Election enter a critical phase, with stakeholders expected to use the engagement to assess outstanding electoral preparations and strengthen coordination ahead of the polls.
