Lagos Police Arrest 16-Year-Old Boy for Illegal Firearm Possession

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly possessing a pistol in the Ebute-Ero area of Lagos.

The arrest was confirmed by the command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, who shared details of the incident on his verified X handle (@benHundeyin) on Sunday.

According to Hundeyin, the suspect was apprehended after concerned residents alerted the Ebute-Ero Police Division about the teenager carrying a firearm. Upon investigation, the police searched the boy’s residence and recovered a locally fabricated firearm along with an unexpended cartridge.

Hundeyin expressed his appreciation to the observant Lagosians, stating, “Kudos to the residents who discreetly reported the 16-year-old with the firearm. One more weapon is off the streets.”

He further emphasized that investigations are ongoing and urged residents to continue reporting suspicious activity, encouraging them to “say something when you see something.”
