New packages take effect November 5 as DStv introduces ₦6,000 entry-level option

MultiChoice Nigeria has announced a major restructuring of its DStv and GOtv subscription packages, introducing new viewing options and a dedicated sports package designed to give football fans access to every English Premier League (EPL) and UEFA Champions League (UCL) match.

The new packages, which will take effect on November 5, 2026, are part of a broader strategy by MultiChoice’s parent company, CANAL+, to simplify its offerings across Africa, improve customer choice and make more entertainment content accessible to subscribers.

Under the new arrangement, DStv will offer four packages: Starter, Select, Sports and Premium. GOtv subscribers will also have four options: Easy, Starter, Select and Sports.

Speaking on the changes, MultiChoice Nigeria Chief Executive Officer, Kemi Omotosho, said the company was focused on providing subscribers with better value and easier access to the entertainment they enjoy.

According to her, the revised packages combine African entertainment, international content and live sports in options tailored to different viewing preferences.

For DStv customers, the Starter package will cost ₦6,000 and serve as the entry-level option. It will feature two new channels, SuperSport KICKOFF and Africa Magic+. SuperSport KICKOFF will broadcast the Premier League Match of the Week and selected UEFA Champions League fixtures, while Africa Magic+ will offer local and international series.

The Select package, priced at ₦11,000, will provide family entertainment, including movie channels, Nigerian and international series, selected football and other sporting events, alongside the full range of children’s channels included in the package.

The biggest attraction for football enthusiasts is the new Sports package, which will cost ₦21,000 monthly. It is designed to carry every Premier League and UEFA Champions League match, as well as WWE and UFC programming. Subscribers will also have access to the general entertainment channels available on the Select package.

The Premium package will retain its position as DStv’s most comprehensive offering, combining the Sports package content with additional premium sporting events, including Formula 1, MotoGP, Grand Slam tennis tournaments and major golf championships. It will also feature international series on M-Net.

MultiChoice is also refreshing its movie offering with M-Net Movies+, M-Net Stars and M-Net Legends, promising a broader selection of blockbuster films, quicker access to new releases and fewer repeats.

GOtv subscribers are equally expected to benefit from the restructuring, with the Easy, Starter, Select and Sports packages scheduled to launch on the same November 5 date. The company said the revised options would be designed around local viewing preferences, simpler choices and improved access to entertainment.

In a further move to attract new customers, MultiChoice said its decoder promotion was still running. Under the offer, new customers can purchase a DStv or GOtv decoder, a full installation kit and one month of an entry-level subscription for ₦15,000.

Customers who prefer streaming can also download the DStv Stream app and subscribe to standalone access from ₦6,000.

The changes come as MultiChoice seeks to align its African operations with CANAL+’s global strategy of simplifying product offerings and placing greater emphasis on customer needs.
