Otti: South-East Governors Intensify Behind-the-Scenes Efforts to Secure Nnamdi Kanu’s Release
Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, has reaffirmed that South-East governors have not abandoned efforts to secure the release of detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu, insisting that discussions and diplomatic engagements are still ongoing behind the scenes.
Otti said the governors remained committed to finding a peaceful and lasting resolution to the situation, despite the absence of publicly visible developments regarding Kanu’s release.
The Abia governor’s assurance is expected to renew attention on the continued calls by political leaders, stakeholders and residents of the South-East for Kanu’s freedom.
He maintained that efforts were still being made through relevant channels, suggesting that the governors were pursuing engagements that might not necessarily be disclosed publicly.
Kanu’s continued detention has remained a major political and security concern in the South-East, with repeated appeals for a resolution that would promote peace, stability and economic recovery across the region.
The governor’s statement also underscores the importance of dialogue and sustained engagement in addressing the issues surrounding Kanu’s detention.
For many residents and stakeholders in the region, the expectation is that the ongoing efforts will produce a concrete outcome and ultimately help restore lasting peace and confidence across the South-East.
