Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has sworn in six newly appointed Permanent Secretaries, bringing the total number appointed under his administration to 135.

The governor also inaugurated the chairmen and members of the Lagos State Local Government Service Commission and the Audit Service Commission at a ceremony held on Monday at the Banquet Hall of Lagos House, Ikeja.

The newly sworn-in Permanent Secretaries are Dr Olawale Adegbite, Mrs Folashade Thomas-Orogan, Mr Adebayo Haroun, Mrs Olayinka Oye-Bamgbose, Mr Olatunbuson Ogunbanwo and Mrs Toyin Adekoya.

For the Audit Service Commission, Sanwo-Olu inaugurated Mrs Arinola Dawodu as chairman, alongside Hon. Bukola Ogunnowo, Ms Omotayo Gbajabiamila-Olamona, Hon. Bowale Shosimi and Hon. Sunday Kappo as members.

The Local Government Service Commission has Hon. Akeem Bamgbola as chairman, with Hon. Adeyinka Durosinmi, Mr Ahmed Seriki, Mr Shamsideen Olaleye and Hon. Folashade Olabanji-Oba as members.

Speaking at the ceremony, Sanwo-Olu urged the appointees to begin work immediately and prioritise effective service delivery to residents across the state.

He charged them to uphold high professional standards and ensure that government policies and programmes translated into measurable improvements in the lives of Lagosians.

“These appointments recognise your experience and service, but they also place greater expectations on you. At this level of public service, the task is not simply to occupy an office or oversee an institution. It is to make that institution work effectively and ensure that its contribution to the development of Lagos State is clear and measurable,” the governor said.

He stressed that his administration’s vision of a Greater Lagos required a public service capable of turning policies into tangible results.

“Our vision of a Greater Lagos requires a public service that can translate policies into results. The people of Lagos must be able to see the difference that effective governance makes in their daily lives,” he added.

Sanwo-Olu further urged the appointees to demonstrate integrity, fairness and accountability in the discharge of their responsibilities, while remaining accessible and responsive to the needs of the public.

He also encouraged them to promote teamwork, support innovation and address administrative challenges professionally.

Earlier, the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr Olabode Agoro, described the appointments as another milestone in the state government’s efforts to strengthen public administration and improve service delivery.

Agoro assured the governor that the appointees were prepared to take on their responsibilities, expressing confidence that their experience and expertise would contribute to the development of the state.

“These appointments underscore the commitment of the present administration to meritocracy, professionalism, accountability and transparency. I am confident that the wealth of knowledge and expertise you will bring on board will continue to strengthen our institutional capacity,” he said.

In their votes of assurance, the appointees thanked Sanwo-Olu for the confidence reposed in them and pledged to discharge their duties efficiently in support of the state’s development agenda.
