AAC Writes Tinubu, Demands Presidential Villa for Sowore’s Campaign Council Inauguration
The African Action Congress (AAC) has written to President Bola Tinubu, requesting permission to inaugurate its Presidential Campaign Council for its presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja, on November 11, 2026.
In a letter dated October 21, 2026, and signed by the party’s National Secretary, Oshiokhue Philip Ikpeminoghena, the AAC also requested food, drinks and logistical support for 5,000 participants expected to attend the event from within and outside Nigeria.
The party said its request was anchored on the principles of multiparty democracy, political inclusiveness and equal treatment of political parties.
It cited what it described as similar arrangements reportedly extended to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), arguing that opposition parties should enjoy equal access to public institutions.
The AAC maintained that government facilities and resources should serve all Nigerians without partisan discrimination, regardless of political affiliation.
The party also challenged the Tinubu administration to demonstrate its commitment to democratic fairness by considering its request and ensuring equal treatment of political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The request, if granted, would see the opposition party hold its campaign council inauguration at the seat of Nigeria’s Federal Government.
