Officials of the world football governing body, FIFA, and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) have begun assessing the unfolding crisis within the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

The football authorities commenced the assessment on Monday in Abuja as FIFA and CAF officials held meetings with National Sports Commission (NSC) Chairman, Shehu Dikko, as well as representatives of the NFF’s federating units.

The meetings are focused on the legal, governance, administrative and electoral implications arising from the latest developments within the NFF.

The intervention is coming amid growing concerns over the administration and electoral processes of the federation, with stakeholders seeking clarity on the appropriate path forward.

FIFA and CAF are expected to examine the issues within the framework of the NFF’s statutes, applicable football regulations and the principles governing the autonomy of national football associations.

The outcome of the assessment could have significant implications for the future administration and electoral direction of Nigerian football.

Stakeholders are now awaiting the position of FIFA and CAF after their engagements with the NSC and representatives of the NFF’s federating bodies.
